Phil Burns

Phil Burns was born in Cardiff in the 1970s, and lived a fairly unremarkable life of going to school and going home afterwards, or to visit his Nan who, along with her brother Bob often told him stories about their uncle, Jim Driscoll. When that was all over with he went to university in Liverpool and achieved a 2:1 in Politics. The next thing to do was to join the world of work, get married, have children, settle down and then all of a sudden it was lockdown with all the disruption that brought. To while away the hours of not being allowed out he started researching his family tree in a bit more detail, and all the scribbled notes and newspaper clippings soon became too much for one note book and in time became the first of many drafts of what was to become his debut novel – Peerless: The Jim Driscoll Story
While that was getting ready to be published he also worked on a second book, telling a completely different version of Jim Driscoll’s life. Look out for His Heart Was Too Big For His Pocket coming later in 2025.
He is married with four daughters and lives in the Midlands.
